Courtney Act, top three finalist on RuPaul’s Drag Race and semi-finalist on Australian Idol, is a musical powerhouse. Smart, insightful, and with the voice of a songbird, Courtney Act is a cornucopia of talent.
Recently named Sydney Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras 2016’s Global Ambassador, Courtney takes her role seriously and has released a new EP paying homage to the gender and sexuality revolution of today’s younger generation. Visualize the six colors of the gay flag swirling into a beautiful kaleidoscope of endless possibilities.
In the video, Act appears as a girl, dressed simplistically in cut off shorts and a white shirt ambling along the Bondi to Bronte coastline in Sydney, Australia. The scenery is gorgeous, but your focus remains on Act as she catches the eye of a skater girl. We follow the summer romance of the two girls, but knowing Courtney, who identifies as gender-fluid and is also known as Shane Jenek, makes the story sweeter and less conventional.
I feel more comfortable existing in the grey area and I encourage anyone who feels like the status quo doesn’t represent them to join me. You may feel broken or separate but when you look through a kaleidoscope, suddenly all of those broken bits and pieces create a beautiful image,” says Courtney.
