Monsterama Returns to Atlanta for a Spooky 3rd Year

Fast Growing Classic Horror Convention Brings TV And Film Stars To Atlanta

Atlanta, September 13, 2016 – Monsterama, an Atlanta convention that celebrates the fantastic in film, literature, and art, returns to Atlanta in early October, just in time to help the city get ready for Halloween. In its third year, Monsterama will be hosting stars from classic horror films, TV’s Twin Peaks, the Gremlins movies, and many more exciting guests. In addition to celebrity guests, Monsterama will have classic horror movies showing, many hours of programming and panels discussing film and tv, and a wide range of workshops involving makeup and special effects.

“We are very happy with the range of our guests this year,” said Anthony Taylor, the Chairperson for Monsterama. “We cover everything from Hammer Films of the 1960s, through 1980s comedy-horror, to the bizarre world that is Twin Peaks.”

Surviving many horrors in the 1960s, Caroline Munro starred in movies with Christopher Lee but is best known as the wife of Dr. Phibes and a Bond Girl in the Spy Who Loved Me. Suzanna Leigh also starred in a number of Hammer films, along with Roger Moore on his TV shows “The Saint” and “The Persuaders.” Zach Galligan starred in two Gremlins Movies with Phoebe Cates and Gizmo, but now he’s coming to Monsterama! Also headlining at Monsterama is James Marshall, who played the brooding anti-hero James Hurley on Twin Peaks. Over twenty guests total are on tap for Monsterama including musicians, artists, directors, and experts in film and special effects.

This year’s Monsterama offers a cornucopia of programming. Emmy Award Winning makeup artist John Goodwin will be demonstrating application of a recreation of on screen makeup. The popular makeup competition, FACE ON, returns, with prizes provided by the Stan Winston School of Character Arts. Other panels will focus on guest experiences, literary horror, screenings of rare and classic films, and much more.

“Everyone likes to be scared a little,” said Taylor, ”That’s what we celebrate at Monsterama, being scared a little. It’s a great family atmosphere at Monsterama, celebrating the classic monsters like Dracula, Frankenstein, The Wolfman, Godzilla, and King Kong. And this year the Creature from The Black Lagoon might be making a special appearance!”
