Glee premiered with what could be considered one of their best episodes yet, “Audition.” We, of course, get our old favorites. Rachel (Lea Michele), Finn (Cory Monteith), Puck (Mark Salling), Artie (Kevin McHale), Kurt (Chris Colfer), Quinn (Dianna Agron), Mercedes (Amber Riley) and the rest of the Glee Club are back and better than ever. Sue Silvester (Jane Lynch) is still up to her old antics and Will Schuester (Matthew Morrison) is still fighting for the kids’ climb up the high school food chain.
Fox hasn’t stopped at just giving us our regular powerhouse cast back. They’ve taken it one step further, giving us two new students, Sunshine Corazan (Charice) and Sam Evans (Chord Overstreet). Both have strong singing voices and phenominal stage presence. Plus they’re both adorable and you just want to hug them. We’re certain to see a lot more of Sunshine and Sam throughout the season, that’s for sure.
But wait, there’s more! Glee has brought in a new football coach. Gone is the daisy duke wearing Ken Tanaka (Patrick Gallagher) and in his place we get Coach Sannon Beiste (Dot Jones). That’s right, Coach Beiste and it IS pronounced “beast.” Dot Jones is simply fabulous! Of course the show wants you to hate Coach Beiste. Along with her being hired came budget cuts to both New Directions and the Cheerios. Here’s the thing, you don’t hate her! Jones does such a fantastic job of bringing depth and dimension to what would otherwise be a very stereotypical character, humanizing her. You feel for Coach Beiste and you want to learn more about her.
