Mitra to Star in “Four Saints”, Samuels Leads “Nine Lives” & Haynes tackles “Teen Wolf”

Variety recently announced that the movie Four Saints has officially entered pre-production and IMDB is reporting a possible 2011 release date. The movie tells the real life true story of four British women who defied their government and dodged constant danger to operate an illegal dressing station in the trenches of World War I Flanders.

Rhona Mitra has been cast as Elsie Knocker, an ambulance driver during WWI, who, together with her friend Mairi Chisholm, provided medical treatment and saved the lives of thousands of soldiers.  “Dubbed “The Madonnas of Pervyse” by the press, the two became the most photographed women of the war, achieving recognition not only as women but for working on the front lines against official British regulations.” (Wikipedia).

The story sounds like it will be compelling. We’ve never seen Mitra in a period piece before. It will be interesting to see how she interprets such a historic heroine.

The film also stars Melanie Lynskey as Mairi Chisholm and Selma Blair as Dorothy Fielding.

Colton Haynes, everyone’s favorite werewolf bad boy Brett Crezski (The Gates), is currently on location in Atlanta filming MTV’s Teen Wolf. It’s a modern spin on the Micheal J. Fox cult classic with a hot young cast that’s sure to set the hearts of teenage girls fluttering!

According to the press release, Teen Wolf is a “”sexy thriller set against the drama of high school life with a forbidden, romantic love story at its core.” Sounds awesome!

Big congratulations to The Gates’ Skyler Samuels (Andie) who landed the lead in ABC Family’s pilot of  Nine Lives. Samuels will play Chole King, “a teenager with heightened abilities (super speed, agility, hearing…claws) who discovers she’s being pursued by a mysterious figure.”

The show is based on the series of three young-adult novels, Nine Lives of Chole King by Celia Thomson.

Congratulations to all! We can’t wait to see the new projects!

Six years? Really! Wow!!! I had no idea they had been working on it that long. It reminds me of Death at a Funeral, which I loved. I really hope they can find a way to release it at least in Europe or even on DVD. The actors in it all have many fans who would love to see it.

For the four saints I read that the movie was suspended for the moment! I would love to see Rhona played in a historical film, it has a very open filmography, I hope that this will!!

Agreed though Colton Haynes is pretty yummy, even though I don’t think he’s the lead. =(

I’m interested in seeing if they make more 80’s remakes. Sixteen Candles maybe? Just as long as they don’t touch The Goonies…you can’t improve on awesome. 😉

I’m interested to see the new Teen Wolf. The 80’s remakes are coming back loud & strong. Its just going to be hard for us old folks, who grew up with MJ Fox in the original to give it a fair shake. Hmmm its so tough to not be judgmental!!! Thanks for the news!
