Convention Season 2011 is Upon Us!

We’re sure our fellow fans are just as excited as we are that convention season 2011 is upon us!

This season is going to be HUGE, especially with the 25th Anniversary of America’s largest fan-run convention, Dragon*Con!  But Dragon*Con and the industry-run San Diego Comic Con aren’t the only conventions out there. There are literally hundreds of cons around the country.

Many fans are familiar with Creation Entertainment’s conventions, but what they don’t know is that there’s a strong contender in the business-run convention market that goes by the name of Wizard World.

Wizard World conventions are set up very similarly to San Diego Comic Con. In fact, they even call them Comic Cons! The difference though? There are less crowds and the conventions aren’t geared towards industry people. Wizard World Comic Cons are all about the fans! Take a look at their website. There’s bound to be a Wizard World Comic Con near you!

CheveronSe7en started the SpaceGypsy convention season off last weekend when he attended Chattacon 36 in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Chattacon is a convention that’s completely different from all of the conventions mentioned above. Why? It’s a relaxacon! Don’t know what that is? CheveronSe7en will explain it all in his Chattacon 36 report.

This weekend is Wizard World’s New Orleans Comic Con! SpaceGypsyMama will be in attendance tomorrow for all of the excitement. Wizard World brings some great guests to their conventions and New Orleans Comic Con is no exception. This year guests include Julie Benz (No Ordinary Family), Aaron Douglas (Battlestar Galactica), James Marsters (Buffy the Vampire Slayer), Ray Park (Darth Maul), Adam West (Batman, Family Guy) and many many more!

The 2011 Convention Season is upon us and your SpaceGypsies will be there to bring you in-depth coverage of the event. If you can’t make it to a con this year, have no fear! We’ll bring the coverage to you!

2011 Convention Coverage will include:

Heroes Con

MidSouth Con

Steampunk Worlds Fair

Chicago Comic Con

New Orleans Comic Con

Convention coverage may be subject to change based on availability.

I’ll also be at GenCon Indy. Not exactly a SciFi Con, but lots of overlap in interest. 🙂
