After holding out for quite some time, J.K. Rowling has announced that the seven book Harry Potter series will be made available for e-readers. Hang on though, don’t go running to Amazon to buy them! The books will be available exclusively through Pottermore.com. This was Rowling’s idea, designed to keep the books from getting stuck on just one particular reader platform. When it launches on July 31, Pottermore.com will make the books available for Amazon’s Kindle, Sony’s Reader and Apple’s iPad, and also in multiple languages.

At the same time, Rowling said once again that an eighth Potter book is not going to happen, but Pottermore.com will be more than just a site to buy ebooks from. It will also charm Potter fans by making available previously unpublished material.
