In 2011, the scheduling gods smiled upon those of us at Dragon*Con and moved the dates of PAX. This allowed the incomparable Wil Wheaton to come join us, and fans of Felicia Day’s brilliant web series, The Guild, couldn’t have been happier. The leader of the Axis of Anarchy brought his wit, his charm, and his quite excellent panel moderation prowess to the table. Amy Okuda (Tinkerballa) and Robin Thorsen (Clara) held their own against Wheaton’s seemingly natural-born tendency to steal the show as they shared behind the scenes stories and more. TiaraLa (Tiara) came to geekdom late and found a place that felt like home. Oh, the signs were always there, from early collaborative fiction writing on Prodigy in the early ’90s and all-night Civilization III sessions, but it was in 2001, starting with the discovery of Firefly and role-playing games, that she became doomed. Current obsessions include True Blood, Leverage and rewatching Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Battlestar Galactica. She’s never seen a single Star Trek or Stargate episode from beginning to end. She has a bachelor’s degree in Writing and in Graphic Design from Mount Mary College in Illinois, where she’s currently an adjunct professor in the Graphic Communications program, and is the SpaceGypsies resident graphic and web designer.
