Nedopak’s work in the film/web series world has made her the up-and-coming female creator. In February 2012, the viral parody Skyrim: To Lydia with Love gained Nedopak press recognition from The Mary Sue, Geek Tyrant, GirlGamer, Pop Culture Monster and 25+ other popular outlets, and left hundreds of thousands of fans wanting more. TLWL will be a part of Dragon*Con’s 2012 film festival in the fall.
With hilarious stories based on Nedopak’s personal gaming experiences and incredibly high-end production value, the next set of six soon-to-be-released films for “The Skyrim Parodies” is sure to follow suit.
Nedopak states, “I have always been inspired by films like ‘Monty Python and the Holy Grail’ and ‘Army of Darkness’ for the brilliantly written, hilarious stories and characters. My goal is to bring more visually amazing ‘Lord of the Rings’ type fantasy to the series world, either online or in television, and make it funny. I want my work to take place in fantastical worlds, have tons of action, and most of all, I want to make people laugh. The Skyrim Parodies are the first set of films where I’ve been able to get such a high production value on a low budget, thanks to the millions of dollars spent on the game’s design. We manipulate the actual Skyrim backgrounds, and then the live action and dialogue is up to me to write and shoot. That’s the easy part!”
Nedopak raised $5500 in a successful IndieGoGo campaign, where fans donated to the project in exchange for custom-made perks such as game controllers, books, costumes, weapons, armor and other props.
Nedopak’s innovative skills in creating a unique niche in the geek world has also earned her a spot on The Most Dangerous Women at Comic-Con panel Thursday, July 12 from 5:00-6:00 PM (room 7AB). Co-panelists include: Panel creator Action Chick Katrina Hill (GeekNation, MTV Geek), Holly Conrad (Comic-Con Episode IV: A Fan’s Hope), Adrianne Curry (Stan Lee’s World of Heroes), Abbie Heppe (Respawn Entertainment), Clare Kramer (Buffy the Vampire Slayer), Stephanie Thorpe (Shelf Life, ElfQuest: A Fan Imagining), Milynn Sarley (GeekNation’s Lairs), Leah Cevoli (Robot Chicken), and Patricia Tallman (Night of the Living Dead, Babylon 5); along with panel moderator Bonnie Burton (SFX Magazine).
Nedopak is a veteran to the convention scene, having created her own panel called Geek Girls Create, which wooed audiences at WonderCon and Comikaze Expo a few months back, and will soon be part of GeekGirlCon 2012 in Seattle. Nedopak will join her fellow Geek Girls Create panelists for an autograph signing and podcast at the Geekscape booth (#3919) during Comic-Con 2012 on Thursday, July 12 from 11am–12pm.
Nedopak’s recent press honors and publications showcase her success and multi-faceted skillset, with a cover and feature article in Faery World Magazine for her costume designs
Kristen Nedopak is currently partnering with First Glance Films creator Bill Ostroff to create The Geekie Awards, an awards event for geek artists, filmmakers, cosplay designers and more! (@RUGeekie // http://TheGeekieAwards.com…
