Amazon to publish Fanfiction!

“All worthy work is open to interpretations the author did not intend. Art isn’t your pet — it’s your kid. It grows up and talks back to you.”  Joss Whedon on fanfiction from his creations.

In case you live under a rock, Joss Whedon is producer, director, screenwriter, author actor.  And creator/showrunner for Firefly – my all time favorite TV show, and movie (Serenity). Of course he has many other shows/movies. To name but a few:
Marvel’s The Avengers, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Dr. Horrible’s Sing Along Blog, and on and on.

I mention this because Amazon just announced they will allow Fanfiction writers to publish on Amazon!

Amazon Publishing has reached out to fan fiction writers with Kindle Worlds allowing authors to write fan fiction based on someone else’s work and share royalties with the rights holders. From GallaryCat

I write fanfiction, a lot of it. I post as Spacegypsy1 found at these links Fanfiction.net and Live Journal.com

I write other things – short stories mostly, which are not published anywhere but in my computer, but my obsession seems to be Stargate SG-1 fanfiction and most particularly Daniel and Vala “ship” centric stories, though with fanfiction I rarely write between 5000 and 10000 words! However, I truly admire the fanfiction stories that are epic! Such fun.

It is a dream come true for many writers. I’m going to point to one in particular who should be paid by the word. Justine Manzano, award winning author. Her blog can be found here  And you can read her fanfiction at Evrymeeveryyou.  Also her other works are wonderful.  Here’s the link to them.

Check out your favorite show/comic/movie for fanfiction by searching Fanfiction.net and Live Journal.  There are many other fanfiction sites so start searching now!

And keep an eye out on Kindle Worlds!
