Ethan fell in love with learning about how and why the Universe works the way it does at a very young age, and has spent his entire adult life pursuing that end.

Media Guests of Honor

Mark Goddard and Marta Kristen are best known to fans for their roles as Maj. Don West and Judy Robinson on the 60s TV show Lost in Space.

With the focus on literacy there were plenty of Authors, Graphic artists and storytellers. I attended a screenwriters roundtable discussion led by Science Fiction Author Stephanie Osborn and playwrite, director and producer of Death Du Jour Mystery Theater Phyllis Appleby and walked away with some very helpful information.

I was so excited by the discussion I actually went home and wrote a short screenplay for practice. So much fun! While both recommended the Screenwriter Software, I downloaded the Open Office free screenwriting software and found it easy and fun to use. I’d never looked at any screenwriting software, but after viewing both I found the Open Office Free software fit my needs during the learning process.

There were many authors I didn’t get around to meeting all of them, but did catch up with a few, bought some books and had them signed by the authors. Author and filmmaker, Stephen Zimmer and the talented Georgia L. Jones were two that stood out and agreed to be interviewed. Those interviews can be seen here on SpaceGypsies.com.

I spent time perusing the art work and chatting with artists like Jim Hall, Dean Zachary and Mitch Foust to name a few. I found some really awesome Farscape drawings!

And from my generation the guests Mark Goddard and Marta Kristen from Lost in Spacewere very busy and well received!

MidSouthCon is one of my favorite small cons. The atmosphere is open and friendly, and of course there are the usual suspects wandering around in costumes.  This yearly convention is one I hope never to miss!

Once you see these guys you know for sure you are at a Con

Remnants of Life – Legends of Darkness An interview with Georgia L. Jones

Georgia’s story is not about your momma’s vampire or your teenage sparkling vampire.  It’s about a new – old vampire!

Love this part from the book!

The smell of the best became like aged bourbon.  It was rotten and harsh.  It tasted like burnt wood, with a swirl of sugar through it.

Remnants of Life takes us along in the adventures of Samantha/Samoda from the world we understand of life into the other world of after ‘death’.

New Pulp – An interview from MidSouthCon30

Pro Se Productions is resurrecting Pulp Magazine and Pulp Fiction.  Although Pulp dates back to the late 1800s, its height of popularity was 1920s through the 1950s with magazines like Amazing Stories, Dime Detectives, and Marvel Tales to name a few.

Now, Tommy Hancock (with his now famous interview shirt) is a partner in Pro Se Productions and bringing back Pulp novels and magazines.   We’ll let Tommy tell his story in the video below.

Wow, so much excitement!

Having never read a graphic novel before and coming into a series (JETTA -Tales of the Toshigawa) I was a bit skeptical about getting much out of a graphic novel mid series.

Gratefully, the inside cover has PREVIOUSLY that not only set me up with the story, but actually got me exited to read further.

I found myself connected to the story visually right away.  It’s a story of  betrayal, family, romantic love, and the heroine’s potentially devastating decision that weighs heavily on her.

JETTA The female warrior! I do like strong female warriors, my favorite being Aeyrn Sun of Farscape fame.  And Shianndrea makes a particularly strong character – one you want to see win!

Ninja! Shianndrea, who has now taken the foreboding name, Jetta, is caught up between the Toshigawa Clan and her Father, Terminus’. She’s been through the ringer, and only wants this fight to end.

Seems simple enough, right? Wrong.  Intrigue abounds!  Internal conflict is revealed!   Romance ensues!

Incredibly visual fights, especially between our heroine and her father makes for some exciting reading/viewing.

The art is awesome.  The dialog crisp and precise.   I recommend this graphic novel to all.

I suppose I’m going to let my long term ‘Femi-Nazi’ out.   A name an ex-boyfriend was fond of calling me and I sorta embraced – not in the way he would have wanted me to!   Anyway, there are lots of big breasted extreme body defining cat-suited ladies.  Sword wielding, fist punching, karate kicking, bad ass women!  I. Love. It!  Really.  (and Terminus is rather hot, himself).

Let me say I intend to seek out women graphic novelists in hopes of finding some sexy body revealing clothed, male counterparts. Or perhaps I will write my own!
